Each year, the Global Livingston Institute (GLI) brings students, community leaders, friends, and family together to celebrate the innovative and exciting ways in which people are listening, thinking, and acting in the United States, East Africa, and beyond!
When the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic became clear, we vowed not to wait for a return to normalcy. The world changed, and we adapted. As a result, our work became more focused, more efficient, and more informed. That's why when we finally! began our in-person programming again in 2022, we took the lessons learned from the past two years and have begun to implement our programs better than ever!
By the end of 2022, we will have listened, thought, and acted by:
Engaging more than 100 students and community leaders in our in-person global classroom programs in Uganda and Rwanda.
Continuing our virtual global classroom programming for more than 50 students from over 10 different countries.
Providing free HIV testing for thousands of Ugandans and coordinating follow-up services for 202 HIV-positive individuals. Reaching 1 million individuals with HIV awareness messaging at our World AIDS Day concert in Uganda.
Recycling 5 metric tons of plastic from the environment each month at our recycling centers in southern and northern Uganda.
Hosting our 8th annual women's leadership retreat in Uganda and our 9th annual youth summit in Uganda.
