2025 GLI Traveler Testimonial
As I continue with my studies and professional career I will continue to explore being a good global citizen and taking the necessary steps to listen and think to communities and people different from me before acting as inputs from those different from you are extremely important and impactful.

2025 GLI Traveler Testimonial
This program was different from other educational or travel experiences I’ve had….Unlike those trips, I got to really immerse myself in the work and interact with children and volunteers in a meaningful way, not just visit or observe. It gave me a chance to connect what I’ve learned in my studies to real-life experiences, and to see firsthand how intentional programs can make an impact.

2025 GLI Traveler Testimonial
Beyond my wildest dreams. It has been the most immersive and fulfilling experience I’ve had traveling and educational travel. I felt extremely taken care of and felt that the money I put in was returned in so many ways….It has been one of the best experiences of my life.

2025 GLI Traveler Testimonial
This program has been one of the most influential things in my career. I’ve always been interested in pursuing global health and using my skills and knowledge as a physician to serve on a global scale. This trip taught me so much about the culture and health systems in both Uganda and Rwanda. I have learned so much that I’ll be able to take with me back home and into my future career.

This experience really helped further my cross-cultural communication skills. Learning about Rwandan culture throughout the experience and then problem-solving with students from around Africa was a really cool test of those new skills.

Faculty-Led & Study Abroad Programs
We work closely with universities and faculty to plan and organize short-term trips that align with their academic expertise. Previous faculty-led experiences have focused on topics such as engineering, music industry, leadership, post-conflict studies, and One Health.
We also work with study abroad offices to design and implement programs. Every GLI trip is led by a GLI staff member, enabling us to lead study abroad experience outside of faculty-led courses.
Capstone & Research
GLI has facilitated dozens of customized research and capstone experiences for individual students, providing them with the support and connections needed to conduct meaningful fieldwork in Africa.
Staff support and logistical coordination
The dedicated time and effort of GLI staff in organizing, coordinating, and facilitating the trip both before and during the program, including comprehensive program design to ensure your school’s goals are met and the trip sets out to achieve its objectives.
Transportation
All private transportation during the trip, including airport transfers, travel between accommodations, and transportation to all planned activities and partner sites.
Activities
All cultural and educational activities, including safaris, visits to historical and cultural sites, community engagement projects, administrative fees, honorariums for local speakers, and cost reimbursements for community partners who help facilitate activities.
Lodging and meals
Accommodations and meals are carefully chosen to support student well-being and align with the trip’s objectives.
Student to Student Exchange
We teach young people how to connect with others from vastly different contexts and tackle global issues together by incorporating peer-to-peer collaboration in each of our programs. We take pride in collaborating with universities in East Africa to help students in the U.S. and Africa connect as future leaders, advocates for change, and friends.
GLI program participants have the chance to meaningfully connect with global peers through hackathons, design sprints, weekend retreats, collaborative research, and social outings. Our peer exchanges bring valuable global exposure to African students who face significant visa and financial barriers to study abroad.
Program impact assessments
GLI administers pre- and post-trip surveys to assess how well programs meet their objectives. We provide partners with post-program reports summarizing student learning outcomes, testimonials, and feedback.
Risk management support
In an abundance of caution, GLI partners with an international security firm to ensure every student’s safety and security, and to ensure we comply with all safety requirements of our academic partners.
